the perfect shirt

I got this shirt from Target because I really wanted a henley shirt (and I had a gift card...) I've got this vision of the perfect shirt that I want. This one isn't quite what I was hoping for, but I do like it. Tonight, I was at Costco, searching for the dream shirt...but I still didn't find it...

Oh well, someday, right? haha.

Team Edward....Scissorhands, that is.

[shirt: 80sTees.com; skirt: thrifted; leggings: F21; shoes: Converse]

Fact: Edward Scissorhands beats Edward Cullen.

Fact: I now own two shirts with Johnny Depp on them.

Fact: that is really cool.

Easter Sunday

[tunic: hand-me-down from a friend; jeggings and tank top: Target/Mossimo; cardigan, hat, and shoes: thrifted]

I love the colors in this outfit. I built everything around the hat, which is my Easter bonnet. I wore it last year on Easter Sunday, and haven't worn it at all between then and now, haha. I think I'll try to wear it more this summer...I can see wearing it to a picnic, or perhaps to the beach...

You ain't nothing but a hound dog...

My shirt has Elvis on it. It is automatically cooler than your shirt. BURN.

I was listening to the radio earlier and "Hound Dog" came on so I was like yay my shirt matches the music! It was so awesome...you had to be there, I guess.

Friend Friday: What Inspires Me

this is a pizza...it was good.

1. Which celebrity (celebrities) do you look to for fashion inspiration?
Although I don't follow celebrity fashion much, I like Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston, Amy Adams, and Hailee Steinfeld.

2. When it comes to your own personal style, what inspires you?
Other fashion bloggers, particularly Indiana, Elaine, and Tania.

3. How do you hope to inspire your readers?
I want to show that modest clothes don't have to be ugly clothes. ;]

4. Outside the realm of fashion who/what inspires you?
Photography, art, and FOOD. Like the picture above, haha...

5. And since Idol is ending… Which songs inspire you?
I have been listening to "Misery" and "She Will Be Loved", both by Maroon 5, a lot lately. Actually, I'm going through a Maroon 5 phase right now...

Kate Middleton fashion week

I've been meaning to join Relatable Style's Kate Middleton fashion week, but I keep forgetting! So glad I remembered today.

Here's the outfit that inspired today's look:

I love her outfit and enjoyed recreating it! How do you think I did? ;]

Vampire?

Grargh, I have red eyes in these pictures! By the time I remembered to take outfit pictures, it was dark outside, so these inside pictures will have to do.

At least I've got my amazing shoes. Love them. And I got so many compliments on them too.

Two for one

[shirt/skirt/shoes: thrifted; jeggings: Target]

[shirt: bought at a Shakespeare play; skirt: thrifted; tights: drugstore; boots: Target; wrist warmer: made by me; bracelets: Walmart]

These are from Monday and Tuesday. I guess I was in a t-shirt + skirt mood? I really like this last picture ^ It's actually my profile picture on Facebook because I liked it so much.

This afternoon my family and I are going to drive down to Portland, OR to visit my grandparents. We'll also be visiting the Regional speech tournament that's going on down there! I qualified to compete at Regionals, but decided not to due to various conflicts. I'm so excited that I get to go hang out though. Should be really fun. =] I'll be back on Monday, with (hopefully) another outfit post.

Best day ever.

[jeans: Target; shirt: thrifted; wrist warmers: I made them from some socks; jacket: hand-me-down from a friend; shoes: Converse]

Saturday was an amazing day. My family went up to a Speech and Debate tournament so I got to hang out with some friends, then we went to look at these beautiful flowers! This field has daffodils, and we saw tulips as well. We also went to an art show (there were orca whale paintings!) and finished the day with an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Yum...

Liquid Sunshine blog party!

Liquid Sunshine @ HorseFeathers

I just discovered Olivia's blog the other day, and I absolutely love it!

•Favorite season, and why?
I like Spring, Fall, and Winter. Not Summer, though. Too much heat and sun.
•How would you describe your personal style?
Eclectic! I like many different styles and smash them together often.
•Rain or shine?
RAIN. Hate the sun, love cloudy weather. Rain is beautiful and it makes the flowers grow...what's not to like?

•Confession time... what's a flaw of yours?
I am conceited.

•Favorite music?
Anything and everything.
•You've just won an unlimited lifetime supply of... what?
McDonald's! That would be amazing. Just amazing.
•If you were an animal, what would you be?
An orca whale....I'm sure you all saw that coming...
•You're now a gazillionaire... where do you go to spend your money?
After tithing, I would spend it on clothing. Goodwill, Urban Outfitters, Target, Modcloth. Oh, and Etsy! Etsy sellers would get a lot of my money...
•Classical music: love it or hate it?
Love. Like I said, all music is great.

•Hop on a plane and go live somewhere for a year... where is it, and why?
Ireland, with occasional visits to Scotland and England.
•Are you an extrovert or an introvert?
I am such an introvert. Although I have behaved like an extrovert at times.
•Would you/do you perform on stage?
I have given many speeches, played at piano recitals, and have been a part of a few plays/skits. Can't say I particularly enjoy it though. I prefer being a part of the audience.

Modern Nancy Drew

Here's what I think a modern Nancy Drew would wear. Jeans and sneakers so she'll be comfortable while sneaking around looking for clues. The shirt adds some preppiness to the outfit and is also comfortable.

It's day five of the fashion week at Bramblewood Fashion and Natasha's blog.

Nancy Drew Fashion Week

Some of you may have noticed the Nancy Drew Fashion Week button on my sidebar! This event began yesterday. You can go to Ashley and Natasha's blogs to see their first posts. I'm hoping to enter on a couple of the days.

April 1: Rules of Engagement -

It's Friend Friday over at Modly Chic. Check it out!

1. Guest posts are a good way to gain new exposure. What do you think
is the appropriate way to go about securing a guest spot?

I would email the blogger and politely ask for a guest spot.

2. Leaving comments is essential to growing your blog. But how can you
leave a comment without coming across as ‘Follow Me. Follow Me!’?

Make the comment sincere, and related to the post. I usually leave my blog url at the bottom of my comments, which I think works in a not too pushy way.
3. We’ve all gotten a mass email at one time or another asking for
blog exposure, a link exchange, etc… But the mass emails don’t work.
How do you make your email stand out from the crowd?

I've never sent out any emails...I guess I would just try to be myself and hope somebody likes me.

4. In interacting with other bloggers where do you draw the line
between seeking support and begging for exposure?

Hmm, the line is different for everybody. Some bloggers would find certain actions to be too pushy that others would be fine with.

5. What’s one rule of engagement error you made and how have you
remedied that?

A couple of times I've commented in a hurry, not really caring about what I was saying, just hoping I would get comments back. Now I really concentrate on meaning what I'm saying.
