Padme: Top outfits

For the final post of my Padme online fashion event, I decided to do a countdown of my top five favorite outfits from each movie. Are you ready? Let's start with Episode I:

Episode I Top Five Outfits:

Number five:

NABOO ESCAPE

The black and the lace and the feathers are awesome!

Number four:

TATOOINE

This outfit is a casual outfit for when Padme was on Tatooine. I love the sleeves!

Number three:

GREY CORUSCANT

This one is stunning! I love the kimono style, the headress, and the textures.

Number two:

TRAVEL GOWN

The colors of this costume are beautiful. I'm a sucker for purple. =]

And my favorite Padme outfit from Episode I is......

Number one:

CELEBRATION GOWN

Love the pink and peach and pale yellow, love the floaty tulle petals, love the silver tiara...it's just so beautiful!

Now, onto the next movie.

Episode II:

Number five:

PACKING GOWN

Not too elaborate, not too simple. Love the colors and the hairstyle.

Number four:

CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE

The inspiration for this dress was Elizabethan fashions and African fashions.

Number three:

WEDDING DRESS

Beautiful lace! This dress looks kind of Edwardian to me. I love the veil.

Number two:

LAKE COUNTRY ARRIVAL

For Attack of the Clones, which is essentially a love story, George Lucas wanted Padme's costumes to be soft, romantic, and flowy. I love the colors on this dress and the fluid lines.

Now, my absolute favorite from Episode II is...

Number one:

PICNIC DRESS

Eeeee, I just love this one. haha, that's about all I have to say!

Episode III:

Number five:

MUSTAFAR

This is a great actiony outfit. I adore the fingerless gloves.

Cool detail shot:

Number four:

NIGHTGOWN

This one is too pretty to be a nightgown!  Check out the back detail:

Number three:

NAVY BLUE DRESS

Love the subtle beading on the beautiful dress.

Number two:

FUNERAL

It's a little sad that my second favorite dress is Padme's funeral dress, but it is lovely. The color symbolizes the water, which Padme loved. She grew up in the Lake Country on Naboo, and that is where she and Anakin fell in love, had their first kiss, and were married.

Number one:

SUNSET DRESS

This dress is. so. beautiful. The fabric looks so soft and velvety, and the colors are muted. I love the simple design. And look: it has a hood built into the dress. Brilliant! =]

Take a look at the scene this outfit is featured in. It's beautiful, with stirring music.

Well, that concludes Gonna Take a Ride Across the Moon's Padme event! It's been a wonderful experience and I already can't wait until the next fashion event. I already know what the theme will be....any guesses? =D

Padme: An Online Event is almost over!

Yay, I loved this fashion event! Thanks to those who participated and those who read/commented on my posts. =]

I do have one more post planned as a grand finale, it'll be up on Monday.

Padme: Artwork

Padme: Photoshoot!

Well,  I couldn't go through a whole fashion event without posting a photoshoot, so here it is:

Baby bump! hahaha.

I made this necklace to look like the japor snippet Anakin gives Padme in Episode I.

These bun covers were tatted by my sister. Aren't they pretty?

Padme: Naboo symbol

This article is really cool. Makes me want to pore over every costume trying to find the symbol. =] Check it out!

Padme: Princess Leia fashion

This first outfit is probably the most recognizable of Leia's costumes because she wears it for most of the first film. She also has the two buns hairstyle that most people associate her with. Did you know that Carrie Fisher hated the hairstyle? She felt that it made her cheeks look too plump.

I love this dress! It's so classy and the color combination is simple and pretty. I like the silver shoes and belt.

Here's a close-up of her elaborate hairstyle:

I think this outfit is my favorite. It's from Episode V.

Isn't her hair awesome? And look, Harrison Ford!! <3 <3 <3  =D

Padme: Handmaiden fashion

Even though this event is about Padme, I thought it would be fun to have a post highlighting the outfits of her handmaidens.

This flame colored dress was worn by the handmaidens in Episode I. I love the color gradation on this outfit. The red sash is a great final touch, and I like how it matches the bill of the head covering.

Dorme is the main handmaiden featured in Episode II. The color schemes of these two outfits are beautiful. I love the blues, greys, and blacks in these dresses.

This next outfit is so gorgeous it deserves two photos!

Isn't this lovely? The color is one of my favorites, and I love the train and other details, like the neck piece. This dress is quite possibly my favorite costume of all the Star Wars movies!

Padme: Aqua outfit

Aqua Georgette Peignoir

Description: Padmé wore this simple aqua dress the night of the Raid on the Jedi Temple and Anakin's fall to the dark side. It was low-cut, held up by straps. The hems and straps were decorated with delicate embroidery,[18] and were studded with pearls and tiny shells, further carrying the theme of water, the element Padmé was so enamored with. The front of the gown was slit, revealing a glossy light blue fabric beneath it, and a simple cape flowed off her back. She wore aqua-colored gloves that started at her wrist up to her upper arm, the bottom of which was also decorated with embroidery, shells, and pearls.[20] She wore her hair down, held back by a delicate headband studded with aqua-colored beads -Wookiepedia

What I like about it: I love the color! Blue is the best color and this shade is particularly lovely. The lacy details are a great touch, and I adore the fingerless gloves.

In case you're wondering what a peignoir is, (I was like, "what?" when I read that word...) I looked it up on Wikipedia. =]

Padme: Peacock outfit

Peacock and Brown Ensemble

Scene: Deleted scene from Revenge of the Sith.

Description: "She wore this billowy, somber dress when meeting with Chancellor Palpatine to discuss the conclusion that he had grasped and held on to too much power. The glossy dress was turquoise in color, shaped like an upside-down cone, and tightly folded in tiny pleats all around. It had a high collar which traveled far up her throat. The puff sleeves were drawn at the lower arm, and beads dangled from the cuff. Over this she wore a long, brown, layered vest that was somewhat triangular from the front, with a cape that went over her arms. Tassels hung off each point, and the entire coat was decorated in scrollwork done in ribbon. Her headdress was unique, shaped like a rectangle with an in-facing scalloped front. From the point back, centered on her forehead, was done with strings of coppery metal in serpentine swirls. The sides were done in a decorative yet simple style in a grayish metal with Padmé's hair done in myriad tight ringlets resembling strings of beads." -Wookiepedia

Details: Since Padme was hiding her pregnancy, this dress has a conical shape.
Trisha Biggar, the costume designer for the prequels, called this material "peacock fabric" because of the shifting colors. In different lights, it looks both blue and rusty brown.

What I like about it: I love the headdress,  the turquoise beads on it are beautiful.
I love the changing fabric, both colors look good on Natalie Portman.
The pleating in the underskirt add texture to this outfit. I like the combination of different textures and colors.
Padme's hairstyles are always fascinating and this one is no exception. It reminds me of dreadlocks...in a good way. =] The beads are a cool addition.
There is also some beading on the cuffs of the sleeves, which I like.

What do all think? Is this a favorite outfit of yours?

Padme: The music of Star Wars

Music is always an essential part of a movie and the Star Wars films have wonderful music. Here is the Anakin and Padme's love theme: Across the Stars.

Isn't is gorgeous?

I found some great covers of it.

violin:

flute:

and piano:

Padme: sleeve details

I love the different sleeve styles Padme's clothes have. I think my favorite of these is the second one, with the silver armbands and the puffy sleeves. What do you all think? Which is your favorite?

Padme: Senate Landing outfit

Today we're going to take a closer look at one of Padme's many outfits. =]

Title: Senate Landing

Scene: The beginning of Revenge of the Sith when Padme tells Anakin that she's pregnant!

Description: Midnight Blue Panne-Velvet Cloak. -Trisha Biggar

Details: The underside of the cloak has a light pattern that reminds me of leopard print. Padme wears long dangly earrings and a hairstyle that is similar to Princess Leia's bun hairstyle.

What I like about it: I love the earrings. When I first watched the movie, I couldn't stop staring at them! They are very eye-catching in a simple, classy way. I think they're extra special because although Padme wears many different accessories, but she doesn't wear earrings very often.

I also love the hairstyle. Padme wore small buns in Episode II that were reminiscent of Leia's iconic hairstyle, but these buns are almost exactly like Leia's. I love the connection between mother and daughter. My brother thinks it's weird because obviously hairstyles aren't genetic, so there's no reason for Leia to wear the same hairstyle her mother wore when she never saw Padme! I like it though. =D
